"In 2003, the knowledge management group I worked in was merged with the learning team. As with all mergers, the first meeting was, er, interesting. Each group across from the other. Someone from the other side of the table spoke up: 'You do something with databases, don't you?' They didn't know what we did. We didn't know what they did. It proved to be fun, and sometimes painful, finding out."
Matt Moore has spent the last decade working in knowledge management, learning and internal communications. His first book, Performance Enhancing, is an attempt to make sense of those experiences. This session explores a selection themes in the book:
- What are the opportunities when knowledge managers and training professionals work together?
- What are the key issues around strategy, staffing, methods and technology?
- What can we do next?
The session will be as interactive as possible - with Matt posing questions as well as answering them.
Matt is Chair of the New South Wales KM Forum in Australia, he has lectured in E-earning Design at University of Technology Sydney and is a director of Innotecture. Matt has worked with organisations such as PwC, IBM, Oracle and the Australian Securities and Investments Commission. His company blog can be found here:
